How to Make a Paper Flower Easy Step by Step

We have a cool all about me rotating flower craft for kids to do when it is back to school time. It comes with a printable template that they can cut out and easily stick together.

This all about me flower is a fun interactive craft that gives some great fine motor practice for the little hands. You can do it at school, or at home as a back-to-school activity or spring craft for kids.

Kids will enjoy writing about their identities such as their name, age, favorite color, favorite TV show, and favorite food on this flower craft. They can also stick a pic of themselves in the center if they want. This is a great activity for kids to get to know each other better and have some interesting conversations!

Print the two pages with the bigger circles on A4 cardstocks of the same color. We used yellow for this.

Print the page with smaller circles on any other color cardstock. We used blue.

Print the page with eyes on A4 white construction paper. (You don't have to print this page if you are going to stick your child's photo instead).

Step 2

First, cut out the smaller circles from the blue cardstock. If younger kids are doing it, they may not come out as perfect circles and that is okay. It is all about having fun and some scissor practice!

Next, cut out the bigger circle from the yellow cardstock. You will see a dot in the centre. Make a tiny hole on that dot using a paper knife. (Please note, this step needs to be done by grown-ups only)

Now, get the cardstock with three circles on it. Cut out the tiny circle using a paper knife. Then cut out the template along the outermost circle. Make a tiny hole on the dot in the centre using a paper knife.

To make the all about me rotating flower craft, cut out all the circles from the template

Step 3

Get the last template we cut out and let's stick all the small blue circles along the second circle side by side.

Wait for the glue to be completely dry and turn it over. We have got a flower shape!

Let's connect the flower shape with the other yellow circle now. Place the yellow circle below the flower shape. Remember the tiny holes we made in the centre of the two circles? Put a paper fastener through these holes and bind them together. Our rotating flower is ready!

Stick the smaller circles around the big yellow circle to form the petals

Step 4

To make a stem for our rotating flower, stick a jumbo sized popsicle stick behind it near the paper fastener using hot glue. Having this stem makes it easy for the kids to hold it while rotating the flower.

Now, kids can rotate the flower craft by holding its petals and write about themselves in each of the blank circles that appear. They can use a pen or pencil or maker for it. They will be so excited to write about themselves and may come up with many interesting ideas!

Lastly, cut out two eyes from the last template and stick them on the flower. Draw a smile for the flower using a black marker. If you don't want to stick the eyes, you can also stick your kid's printed photograph.
